Sthala Purana: At Gokarṇa stands the Candrabhāla liṅga, said to have been brought by Rāvaṇa through true devotion; the narrative type is ‘bhakta-pratiṣṭhā’ where a devotee transports/establishes a liṅga and the Lord grants siddhi and sanctity to the place.
Significance: Darśana of Candrabhāla is framed as sarva-siddhi-prada—granting spiritual attainments; in Siddhānta terms, ‘siddhi’ is subordinate to the higher goal of Śiva’s anugraha and pāśa-kṣaya.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that sincere devotion (sadbhakti) to Śiva, focused through Liṅga worship, becomes a direct means to attain siddhi—culminating in grace and liberation—regardless of one’s worldly identity.
The verse presents the Liṅga as Saguna Śiva’s accessible form in the world: a consecrated presence that receives devotion and returns divine favor, making pilgrimage and worship a practical path to Śiva’s grace.
Perform Liṅga-pūjā and abhiṣeka with steady sadbhakti while repeating the Pañcākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), treating the Liṅga as Śiva’s living presence and dedicating the fruits to liberation.
