जगता सिन्धुं दिव्यस्तभायद्रथंतरे सूर्यं पर्यपश्यत् । गायत्रस्य समिधस्तिस्र आहुस्ततो मह्ना प्र रिरिचे महित्वा ॥
jágatā síndhuṃ divyá astabhāyad rathantaré sū́ryaṃ páry apaśyat | gāyatrásya samídhas tisrá āhuḥ táto mahnā́ prá ririce mahitvā́ ||
జగతీ (చలించే ఛందస్సు) ద్వారా అతడు దివ్య సింధువు (ఆకాశీయ నది)ను స్థంభింపజేసి నిలిపాడు; రథంతరంలో అతడు సూర్యుణ్ని చుట్టూరా దర్శించాడు. వారు అంటారు—గాయత్రికి మూడు సమిధలు (ప్రజ్వలన కట్టెలు) ఉన్నాయి; దానినుంచి మహిమచేత అతడు మహత్తులోకి పొంగి విస్తరించాడు.
