Sarga 122
सपुत्रांत्वांत्यजामीतियदुक्ताकेकयीत्वया ।स शापःकेकयींघोरस्सपुत्रां न स्पृशेत्प्रभो ।।।।
saputrāṃ tvāṃ tyajāmi iti yad uktā kaikeyī tvayā |
sa śāpaḥ kaikeyīṃ ghoraḥ saputrāṃ na spṛśet prabho ||
ప్రభో! నీవు ఒకప్పుడు కైకేయితో—“పుత్రునితో కూడ నిన్ను త్యజిస్తున్నాను” అని అన్నావు; కాబట్టి ఆ ఘోర శాపము కైకేయిని గాని ఆమె పుత్రుని గాని స్పర్శించకూడదు.
"O Lord! You had spoken in such a way saying 'I disown a good son and Kaikeyi' and cursed. May that dreadful curse not touch your son and Kaikeyi," said Rama.
Dharma restrains anger and harsh speech: Rāma seeks that a punitive utterance not harm others, emphasizing compassion over retribution.
Rāma recalls Daśaratha’s earlier repudiating words to Kaikeyī and prays they not take effect as a curse upon her and Bharata.
Mercy and impartiality—Rāma protects even those connected to his suffering from lasting harm.
