uttiṣṭha puruṣavyāghra kriyatām udakaṃ pituḥ | ahaṃ cāyaṃ ca śatrughnaḥ pūrvam eva kṛtodakau || 2.101.7 ||
లేచెడు, పురుషవ్యాఘ్రా! తండ్రికి ఉదకదానం చేయుము. నేను మరియు ఈ శత్రుఘ్నుడు ముందే ఉదకక్రియ చేసాము।
Arise, O best of men! and offer libations to our father. I and Satrughna have already done so.
Fulfilling pitṛṛṇa (debt to the ancestors) through prescribed rites is a key dharmic obligation of sons.
After informing Rama of Daśaratha’s death, Bharata urges Rama to perform the customary water-libation for their father.
Bharata’s propriety and devotion—he ensures the funeral obligations are completed and invites Rama to complete his share.
