The Disfigurement of Śūrpaṇakhā
ततस्तु सा राक्षससङ्घसंवृतं खरं जनस्थानगतं विरूपिता।उपेत्य तं भ्रातरमुग्रदर्शनं पपात भूमौ गगनाद्यथाऽशनिः।।।।
tatas tu sā rākṣasasaṅghasaṃvṛtaṃ kharaṃ janasthānagataṃ virūpitā |
upetya taṃ bhrātaram ugradarśanaṃ papāta bhūmau gaganād yathāśaniḥ ||
అప్పుడు వికృతరూపిణి అయిన ఆమె, రాక్షససంఘముచే పరివృతుడై జనస్థానమందు నివసించు ఉగ్రదర్శనుడైన అన్న ఖరుని సమీపించి, ఆకాశమునుండి పడిన వజ్రమువలె భూమిపై కూలిపోయింది।
