गत्वोवाच मुनिश्रेष्ठ वदास्माकं हितं वचः । यथा पापाद्विमुच्येहं मुनिश्रेष्ठ तथा कुरु
gatvovāca muniśreṣṭha vadāsmākaṃ hitaṃ vacaḥ | yathā pāpādvimucyehaṃ muniśreṣṭha tathā kuru
An unnamed petitioner (a seeker) addressing a sage (muniśreṣṭha).
Concept: Sincere surrender to a realized guide and the desire for liberation from sin ‘here and now’ is itself the beginning of purification.
Application: Ask for help plainly: name the problem (pāpa/harm), request a concrete remedy, and commit to it; spiritual life begins with honest petition and willingness to change.
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: forest
Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"At the threshold of a tranquil hermitage, the petitioner kneels with folded hands, head bowed, eyes wet yet hopeful. The sage sits composed on a kusa-grass seat, a water pot and scripture nearby, listening with compassionate gravity. The air feels charged with the possibility of immediate inner release—‘iha’—as if the forest itself pauses to hear the plea.","primary_figures":["Petitioner (fallen dvija)","Sage Kaśyapa"],"setting":"Āśrama entrance with sacred fire in the background, prayer beads, palm-leaf texts, a small altar with flowers and water vessel; deer and birds nearby to symbolize peace.","lighting_mood":"temple lamp-lit","color_palette":["warm ochre","saffron","smoky brown","leaf green","gentle ivory"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Kaśyapa enthroned in serene teaching posture with gold leaf halo; the petitioner kneeling in humility; ornate arch and pillars, gem-like ornamentation on the sage’s seat, rich reds/greens, gold leaf on lamps and sacred fire.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate dialogue scene with delicate brushwork; soft forest greens and muted earth tones; expressive faces showing humility and compassion; a small fire altar and water pot rendered with fine detail, lyrical calm.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines, iconic gestures—petitioner in añjali mudrā, sage in upadeśa mudrā; natural pigments, strong saffron and green fields, temple-wall symmetry and clarity.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: ornate floral border; central hermitage scene with kneeling devotee and seated sage; intricate vines and lotuses, peacocks at corners, deep earthy background with gold highlights, devotional narrative richness."}
Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"dramatic","suggested_raga":"Durga","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"reverent-soft","sound_elements":["crackling sacred fire","soft mantra undertone","rustling leaves","silence between phrases"]}
Sandhi Resolution Notes:
The speaker asks the sage for beneficial instruction that will free him from sin, ideally in this very life (iha).
No. This verse functions as a setup in a dialogue: it requests guidance but does not yet name a tirtha, deity, or specific practice.
It underscores humility and seeking wise counsel—recognizing wrongdoing (pāpa) and actively pursuing corrective, wholesome guidance (hita vacaḥ).
