Concept: Mantra-ignorance renders ritual identity void; one lacking Gāyatrī-knowledge is unfit for receiving śrāddha offerings.

Application: Treat sacred rites as responsibilities requiring preparation; cultivate mantra understanding and ethical purity before serving as priest/recipient.

Primary Rasa: raudra

Secondary Rasa: bibhatsa

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A śrāddha ceremony is paused: a householder holds a piṇḍa and kuśa grass, while an unqualified brāhmaṇa sits aside, his face turned away from a faint Gāyatrī glow he cannot meet. Sandhi Resolution Notes: नैव = न + एव. शूद्रात्परतः = शूद्रात् + परतः (t + p). तस्यापूतस्य = तस्य + अपूतस्य (a-initial sandhi).

FAQs

Pitṛ-pārvaṇa refers to an ancestral rite/oblation associated with śrāddha, where offerings are made in connection with the Pitṛs (ancestors).

It stresses that mere social status is insufficient; knowledge/understanding of the prescribed dharma and personal purity are treated as prerequisites for performing or receiving certain sacred rites.

Primarily a ritual-dharma rule: it sets a restriction on giving the Pitṛ-pārvaṇa offering to a brāhmaṇa described as “impure” and lacking the required knowledge.
