Durvasa’s Curse, the Churning of the Ocean, and Lakshmi’s Manifestation
Chapter 4
brahmovāca | tapasastatphalaṃ putra yaddṛṣṭohaṃ tvayādhunā | maddarśanaṃ hi viphalaṃ nāradeha na jāyate
Brahmā

Brahmā states that the immediate fruit of Nārada’s tapas is obtaining darśana—direct vision of Brahmā.
He implies that divine darśana is purposeful and yields a meaningful spiritual outcome—such as instruction, blessing, or confirmation of merit—rather than being a random or empty event.
The verse affirms that sincere discipline and spiritual effort bear results, and that authentic spiritual experiences are tied to responsibility, guidance, and transformation rather than mere spectacle.
