Unspecified (context-dependent within Padma Purāṇa Sṛṣṭikhaṇḍa 17)

Concept: The Supreme can appear in humble, even servile conditions; divinity is not negated by outward lowliness—līlā often hides greatness under simplicity.

Application: Do not judge worth by status or occupation; cultivate humility and remembrance of the divine name in all conditions, including long periods of uncertainty.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: karuna

FAQs

It uses the name “Kṛṣṇa” and mentions birth in the Yadu dynasty, but without the surrounding narrative, the identification cannot be confirmed from this verse alone; Purāṇic passages sometimes use names prophetically or as part of a curse/boon motif.

It highlights karmic consequence and downfall: identity, status, and even noble birth can be overshadowed by actions leading to degradation, prolonged wandering, and loss of freedom.

It commonly signifies severe degradation—either a literal animal birth/association or a metaphor for living in a brutish, constrained condition—used to stress the gravity of karmic results.
