FAQs

Because Soma (the Moon) is traditionally linked with plant sap, growth, and healing potency; the verse frames the moon’s orb as the source or overseer of herbal vitality (rasa).

It indicates Soma’s elevated, ritually significant status in Vedic culture—associated with sacred knowledge and sacrifice—so he is treated as belonging to the sphere of the dvija (those initiated into Vedic rites).

By calling the moon-orb an abode of the Vedas, the text presents Soma not merely as a celestial body but as a cosmic locus of sacred order, ritual potency, and the ‘essence’ (rasa) that nourishes life and liturgy.
