FAQs

Pitāmaha (“Grandfather”) is a common Purāṇic epithet for Brahmā, the creator figure who presides over the cosmic order and realms.

It suggests a recognition of rightful spiritual-cosmic authority: the seers acknowledge a leader (svāmī) who guides and protects the sacred order they uphold.

Authority is portrayed as legitimate when affirmed by the wise (ṛṣis) and aligned with dharma—leadership is a responsibility entrusted through recognition of merit and cosmic duty.
