Concept: Ask for the true cause openly and directly; clarity of reason (kāraṇa) is foundational for right action and spiritual progress.

Application: When confused, request the ‘whole reason’ without accusation; practice non-violent clarity (satya with śānti) to resolve conflicts and keep the mind fit for japa and worship.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

FAQs

The verse itself does not identify the characters; it only indicates a conversational setting where one speaker addresses another as “brother.” Identification requires surrounding verses or the chapter’s narrative frame.

It is a direct request for the full explanation of the cause or purpose behind a summons—asking the other party to state clearly why the speaker was called.

It models clarity and accountability in communication: if someone is called or summoned, the reason should be stated openly and completely, especially in the presence of the concerned person.
