Concept: Never abandon one’s kula-sadācāra (virtuous ancestral conduct); for a gṛhastha, continuity of righteous custom is itself a stabilizing dharma.

Application: Preserve ethical family practices—honesty, hospitality, daily worship, charity—while discarding harmful ‘customs’; teach children consistent, compassionate discipline.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"An intergenerational scene inside a lamp-lit home shrine: an elder teaches a young householder the family’s daily worship and ethical vows, while sacred texts rest on a low wooden stand. The mood is quiet and resolute—tradition as living dharma, not mere memory.","primary_figures":["elder brāhmaṇa teacher (dvijottama)","young gṛhastha disciple","family members in the background","Vishnu icon or śālagrāma on altar"],"setting":"interior household shrine room with brass lamp, palm-leaf manuscripts, water pot, and offerings","lighting_mood":"temple lamp-lit","color_palette":["deep maroon","brass gold","smoke gray","leaf green","cream"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: a dvijottama instructing a gṛhastha before a Vishnu altar, gold leaf on lamp flames and deity halo, rich red backdrop, ornate pillars, gem-like jewelry on the deity icon, detailed textiles, emphasizing kula-sadācāra continuity.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate indoor teaching scene with delicate brushwork; elder and disciple seated on a woven mat, manuscripts and a small shrine visible; soft earth tones, refined expressions, gentle chiaroscuro, lyrical domestic spirituality.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: stylized teacher and disciple with bold outlines; shrine elements simplified yet iconic—lamp, conch, chakra motifs; warm reds and yellows, rhythmic decorative borders, didactic calm.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: Vishnu-centered border of lotuses and vines framing a domestic altar; the teaching moment depicted below the deity motif, intricate floral patterns, deep blue field with gold accents, emphasizing dharma as devotional art."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"narrative","suggested_raga":"Durga","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"authoritative","sound_elements":["oil lamp crackle","soft bell chime","page rustle of manuscripts","quiet indoor resonance"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: कदानैव → कदा + न + एव; विमुंचति → विमुञ्चति (अनुस्वार/ञ्-परिवर्तन); एतदेव → एतत् + एव; द्विजोत्तम → द्विज + उत्तम (स्वर-सन्धि)

FAQs

It teaches that a gṛhastha should not abandon the inherited standards of righteous conduct (sadācāra) of their lineage, treating it as a core pillar of household dharma.

In dharma literature, kula-sadācāra implies ethically sound, time-tested practices aligned with righteousness; it is not an endorsement of harmful or adharma-based customs.

Consistency in virtue: maintaining disciplined, righteous behavior in daily life—especially within family and social duties—is presented as foundational to dharma.
