Matsya Purana — Navagraha Sacrifice for Planetary Pacification and Prosperity
hiraṇyagarbhagarbhastvaṃ hemabījaṃ vibhāvasoḥ anantapuṇyaphaladam ataḥ śāntiṃ prayaccha me //
By invoking Hiraṇyagarbha (the cosmic ‘golden embryo’ associated with primordial creation), the verse points to the pre-cosmic creative principle from which ordered manifestation arises—peace (śānti) is sought by aligning with that origin of cosmic order.
It models a householder/kingly ideal of beginning undertakings with śānti and auspicious invocation—seeking inner and outer pacification so that actions yield puṇya (merit) and stable results, a recurring ethical emphasis across Purāṇic guidance.
Ritually, it functions as a śānti-mantra: a pacificatory invocation typically recited at the start of Purāṇa reading, yajña, or consecratory acts; while not giving Vastu measurements, it supports the standard Vastu/temple-ritual principle that rites begin with śānti to remove obstacles.
