Adhyaya 49 — Primordial Human Creation, the Rise of Desire, and the Origins of Settlements, Measures, and Agriculture

Sanskrit

आयुषोऽन्ते प्रसूयन्ते मिथुनान्येव ताः सकृत् ।

ततः प्रभृति कल्पेऽस्मिन् मिथुनानां हि सम्भवः ॥

Transliteration

āyuṣo 'nte prasūyante mithunāny eva tāḥ sakṛt |

tataḥ prabhṛti kalpe 'smin mithunānāṃ hi sambhavaḥ ||

Translation

ఆయుష్షు ముగింపున ఆ స్త్రీలు ప్రసవించారు—ఒక్కసారి మాత్రమే—అదీ జంటలకే. అప్పటినుంచి ఈ కల్పంలో జంటల సృష్టి స్థిరపడింది.
