Adhyaya 48The Emanation of Beings from Brahma: Night, Day, Twilight, and the Orders of Creation

सर्पणात्तेऽभवन् सर्पा हीनत्वादहयः स्मृताः ।

सर्पान् दृष्ट्वा ततः क्रोधात् क्रोधात्मानो विनिर्ममे ॥

sarpaṇātte 'bhavan sarpā hīnatvād ahayaḥ smṛtāḥ | sarpān dṛṣṭvā tataḥ krodhāt krodhātmāno vinirmame ||

వారి సర్పణగతివల్ల వారు ‘సర్పులు’ అయ్యారు; మరియు భూమికి దగ్గరగా ఉండే నీచస్థితివల్ల వారు ‘అహయః’ అని స్మరించబడతారు. ఆ సర్పులను చూసి అతడు కోపంతో కోపస్వభావముగల జీవులను సృష్టించాడు.
