Adhyaya 47 — Brahma’s Awakening and the Ninefold Scheme of Creation
āpo nārā vai tanava ity apāṃ nāma śuśruma / tāsu śete sa yasmāc ca tena nārāyaṇaḥ smṛtaḥ

The cosmos is portrayed as emerging from a primal substrate (‘waters’), encouraging a sense of common origin and interdependence rather than separative pride.
Supports ‘Sarga’ by explaining the pre-creation condition (primordial waters) and the supreme principle associated with it.
‘Waters’ often symbolize undifferentiated potential; the deity ‘reclining’ indicates poised consciousness prior to manifestation—still, sustaining, and all-containing.
