Adhyaya 23Ashvatara’s Vow for Madalasa and the Bestowal of Musical Science by Sarasvati

सरस्वत्युवाच सप्त स्वराः ग्रामरागाः सप्त पन्नगसत्तम !

कीटकानि च सप्तैव तावतीश्चापि मूर्च्छनाः ॥

sarasvatyuvāca sapta svarā grāmarāgāḥ sapta pannagasattama ! /

kītakāni ca saptaiva tāvatīścāpi mūrcchanāḥ

సరస్వతి చెప్పింది: ఓ ఫణిశ్రేష్ఠా, ఏడు స్వరాలు ఉన్నాయి; ఏడు గ్రామ-రాగాలు ఉన్నాయి; ఏడు కీటకాలు కూడా ఉన్నాయి—అలాగే మూర్చ్ఛనాలు కూడా ఏడే।
