Adhyaya 2 — The Lineage of Garuda and the Birth of the Wise Birds: Kanka and Kandhara

Sanskrit

पानासक्तमतिं तत्र तं ददर्श निशाचरम् ।

आताम्रवक्त्रनयनं हेमपर्यङ्कमाश्रितम् ॥

Transliteration

pānāsaktamatiṃ tatra taṃ dadarśa niśācaram |

ātāmravaktranayanaṃ hemaparyaṅkamāśritam ||

Translation

అక్కడ అతడు రాత్రివేళ సంచరించే ఆ సత్త్వాన్ని చూచెను—మద్యపానాసక్తమనస్సుతో; ముఖమూ నేత్రములూ తామ్రవర్ణ ఎర్రగా ఉండి, స్వర్ణశయ్యపై శయనించియుండెను।
