विराट: प्रादिशद् यानि तेषामक्लिष्टकर्मणाम् । तान्यामुच्य शरीरेषु दंशितास्ते परंतपा:,उसके बाद अनायास ही महान् पराक्रम करनेवाले पाण्डुपुत्रोंको राजा विराटने अपने हाथसे विचित्र कवच प्रदान किये, जो ऊपरसे सुदृढ़ और भीतरसे कोमल थे। उन्हें लेकर उन वीरोंने अपने अंगोंमें यथास्थान बाँध लिया
vaiśampāyana uvāca | virāṭaḥ prādiśad yāni teṣām akliṣṭakarmaṇām | tāny āmucya śarīreṣu daṃśitās te paraṃtapāḥ ||
వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను—ఆపై రాజు విరాటుడు శ్రమలేక కార్యసిద్ధి పొందే ఆ వీరులకు ఇచ్చిన కవచాలను వారు స్వీకరించి, శత్రుసంహారకులైన వారు సన్నద్ధులై తమ శరీరాలపై ధరించారు.
