Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 23: Report of the Slain Sūtaputras, Royal Orders, and Sairandhrī’s Return
अद्वारेणाभ्यवस्कन्द्र निर्जगाम बहिस्तदा । स भीमसेन: प्राकारादारुह्मु तरसा टद्रुमम्,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं-राजन्! ऐसा कहकर महाबाहु भीमसेनने उपकीचकोंका वध करनेके लिये अँगड़ाई लेते हुए अपने शरीरको बढ़ा लिया और प्रयत्नपूर्वक वेष बदलकर बिना दरवाजेके ही दीवार फाँदकर पाकशालासे बाहर निकल गये। फिर वे नगरका परकोटा लाँघकर बड़े वेगसे एक वृक्षपर चढ़ गये (और वहींसे यह देखने लगे कि उपकीचक द्रौपदीको किधर ले जा रहे हैं)
advāreṇābhyavaskandya nirjagāma bahis tadā | sa bhīmasenaḥ prākārād āruhma tarasā tad drumam ||
వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను—అప్పుడు భీమసేనుడు ద్వారం కాని మార్గం ద్వారా దూకి బయటకు వెళ్లెను. తరువాత ప్రాకారాన్ని దాటి వేగంగా ఆ వృక్షాన్ని ఎక్కెను।

Dharma may require decisive protection of the innocent, carried out with restraint and prudence. Bhīma’s swift, concealed movement shows that righteous action can be paired with strategy, especially when open confrontation would endanger a larger duty (the Pāṇḍavas’ secrecy in Virāṭa’s court).
Bhīma exits without using the gate, crosses the fort wall, and quickly climbs a tree to observe events and prepare to confront the wrongdoers. This sets up his intervention in the Kīcaka episode while maintaining the Pāṇḍavas’ disguise.
