एषा भागीरथी पुण्या देवगन्धर्वसेविता । वातेरिता पताकेव विराजति नभस्तले,इसके-समीप यह वही देव-गन्धर्वसेवित पुण्यसलिला भागीरथी है, जो आकाशमें वायुकी प्रेरणासे फहरानेवाली श्वेत पताकाके समान सुशोभित हो रही है
eṣā bhāgīrathī puṇyā devagandharvasevitā | vāteritā patākeva virājati nabhastale ||
ఇదిగో పుణ్యమయమైన భాగీరథీ—దేవులు, గంధర్వులు సేవించే నది. గాలిచేత ప్రేరితమై ఆకాశవీధిలో ఎగిరే పతాకంలా ప్రకాశిస్తోంది.
लोगश उवाच
The verse elevates the Bhāgīrathī (Gaṅgā) as intrinsically purifying and worthy of reverence, presenting sacred nature as a locus of merit (puṇya) and reminding the listener that approaching such holy places with respect supports ethical self-cultivation.
The speaker points out the Bhāgīrathī to others, praising her sanctity and celestial associations, and uses a vivid simile—like a wind-tossed banner in the sky—to describe her radiant, striking appearance.
