स बाल एव तेजस्वी पितुस्तस्य निवेशने । इध्मानां भारमाजद्ठे इध्मवाहस्ततो5भवत्,पिताके घरमें रहते हुए तेजस्वी दृढस्यु बाल्य-कालसे ही इध्म (समिधा)-का भार वहन करके लाने लगे; अतः “इध्मवाह” नामसे विख्यात हो गये
sa bāla eva tejasvī pituḥ tasya niveśane | idhmānāṁ bhāram ājadḍhe idhmavāhas tato 'bhavat |
అతడు ఇంకా బాలుడే అయినా, తండ్రి ఆశ్రమగృహంలో నివసిస్తూ ఇధ్మము (సమిధలు) భారాన్ని మోసుకొని వచ్చేవాడు; అందువల్ల అతడు ‘ఇధ్మవాహ’ అని ప్రసిద్ధి పొందాడు.
