मარკण्डेयागमनम् तथा सत्यव्रत-उपदेशः

Arrival of Mārkaṇḍeya and Counsel on Truth-Vows

नाब्राह्मणस्तात चिरं बुभूषे- दिच्छन्निमं लोकममुं च जेतुम्‌ । विनीतधर्मार्थमपेतमोहं लब्ध्वा द्विज॑ नुदति नृप: सपत्नान्‌,“तात! इहलोक और परलोकपर विजय पानेकी इच्छा रखनेवाला राजा किसी ब्राह्मणको साथ लिये बिना अधिक कालतक न रहे। जिसे धर्म और अर्थकी शिक्षा मिली हो तथा जिसका मोह दूर हो गया हो, ऐसे ब्राह्मगको पाकर राजा अपने शत्रुओंका नाश कर देता है

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: nābrāhmaṇas tāta ciraṁ bubhūṣed icchan imaṁ lokam amuṁ ca jetum | vinīta-dharmārtham apeta-mohaṁ labdhvā dvijaṁ nudati nṛpaḥ sapatnān ||

వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను—ప్రియమైనవాడా, ఈ లోకమును మరియు పరలోకమును జయించదలచిన రాజు బ్రాహ్మణుడు పక్కన లేకుండా దీర్ఘకాలం ఉండకూడదు. ధర్మార్థాలలో శిక్షితుడై, మోహరహితుడైన ద్విజుని పొందినపుడు రాజు తన ప్రత్యర్థులను తరిమికొట్టి నశింపజేయగలడు.
