रजस्तमो भ्यामाक्रान्ता: फाल्गुनस्य वधैषिण: । इसी प्रकार राक्षसोंसे आविष्टचित्त होकर वे संशप्तक वीर भी रजोगुण और तमोगुणसे आक्रान्त हो अर्जुनको मार डालनेकी इच्छा रखने लगे
rajas-tamobhyām ākrāntāḥ phālgunasya vadhaiṣiṇaḥ |
వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను—రజస్సు, తమస్సు చేత ఆవరించబడి వారు ఫాల్గుణుని (అర్జునుని) వధించుటకు తపించిరి. రాక్షసావేశముచే ఆవిష్టచిత్తులైన ఆ సంశప్తక వీరులూ అర్జునుని చంపుటకే సంకల్పించిరి.
