Educational Q&A

The passage frames the upcoming account as a dharma-illustrating exemplum: authoritative wisdom is transmitted through remembered gāthās, even those attributed to the gods, and ethical instruction is often conveyed through ancient narratives about sages and their power.

Bharadvāja introduces a traditional verse said to have been spoken by the gods and begins an old story: he announces that in ancient times there was a powerful sage named Bāladhī, setting the stage for the episode that follows.
