Educational Q&A

As a colophon, the line does not teach through narrative action but frames the chapter’s ethical-religious emphasis: devotion to Viṣṇu expressed through stotra, situated within the purifying context of pilgrimage (tīrtha-yātrā), where reverence, self-restraint, and sacred remembrance are foregrounded.

This is the formal closing notice of the chapter: it identifies the work (Mahābhārata), the book (Vana Parva), the sub-section (Tīrtha-yātrā Parva), the episode context (Lomāśa’s pilgrimage), and the topic (a hymn to Viṣṇu), and states that this is the 102nd chapter.
