तत्र नः प्रथम: कल्पो यद्‌ वयं ते च माधव । प्रशान्ता: समभूताश्च श्रियं तामश्रुवीमहि,माधव! इस विषयमें हमारा पहला ध्येय यही है कि हम और कौरव आपसमें संधि करके शान्तभावसे रहकर उस सम्पत्तिका समानरूपसे उपभोग करें

tatra naḥ prathamaḥ kalpo yad vayaṃ te ca mādhava | praśāntāḥ samabhūtāś ca śriyaṃ tām aśruvīmahi ||

మాధవా! ఈ విషయంలో మా మొదటి సంకల్పం ఇదే—మేము మరియు కౌరవులు సంధి చేసుకొని, శాంతంగా సమాధానపడీ, ఆ సంపదను సమానంగా అనుభవించాలి. నీతిలో ప్రథమ ప్రాధాన్యం యుద్ధవిజయానికి కాదు; సౌహార్దానికి, సామూహిక క్షేమానికి.
