धघतयाट्र उवाच यानिहाहुः स्वस्य धर्मस्य लोकान् द्विजातीनां पुण्यकृतां सनातनान् । तेषां क्रमान् कथय ततो<पि चान्यान् नैतद् विद्वन् वेत्तुमिच्छामि कर्म
dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca | yān ihāhuḥ svasya dharmasya lokān dvijātīnāṃ puṇyakṛtāṃ sanātanān | teṣāṃ kramān kathaya tato 'pi cānyān naitad vidvan vettum icchāmi karma ||
ధృతరాష్ట్రుడు పలికెను—ఓ విద్వన్మహాశయా, పుణ్యకర్మలు చేసే ద్విజులకు తమ తమ ధర్మఫలంగా లభిస్తాయని చెప్పబడిన సనాతన లోకముల క్రమాన్ని వివరించండి; అలాగే వాటికి భిన్నమైన ఇతర లోకములనూ నిరూపించండి. ఫలాపేక్షతో చేసే (సకామ) కర్మ విషయాన్ని నేను తెలుసుకోవాలని కోరను।
