Bhīṣma’s Dream-Counsel and the Prasvāpa Astra (भीष्मस्वप्नदर्शनम् / प्रस्वापास्त्रोपदेशः)
न त्वहं विनिवर्तिष्ये युद्धादस्मात् कथंचन । “आजसे पहले भी मैं कभी किसी युद्धसे पीछे नहीं हटा हूँ। अतः: पितामहो! आपलोग अपनी इच्छाके अनुसार पहले गंगानन्दन भीष्मको ही युद्धसे निवृत्त कीजिये। मैं किसी प्रकार पहले स्वयं ही इस युद्धसे पीछे नहीं हटूँगा”
na tv ahaṁ vinivartiṣye yuddhād asmāt kathaṁcana |
నేను ఈ యుద్ధం నుండి ఏ పరిస్థితిలోనూ వెనుదిరగను. ఇంతకుముందు నేను ఎప్పుడూ యుద్ధంలో వెనక్కి తగ్గలేదు; కాబట్టి ఇప్పుడు కూడా నేను మొదటిగా స్వయంగా తప్పుకోను. పెద్దలు నన్ను యుద్ధం నుండి తప్పించాలని కోరితే, వారి ఇష్టానుసారం ముందుగా గంగానందనుడైన భీష్మునినే యుద్ధం నుండి విరమింపజేయాలి; నేను నా ఇష్టంతో రణభూమిని విడిచిపెట్టను.
