Daṇḍanīti and the King as the Cause of Yuga-Order (दण्डनीतिः राजधर्मश्च युगकारणत्वम्)
प्रवृद्धानां च वृक्षाणां शाखां प्रच्छेदयेत् तथा । चैत्यानां सर्वथा त्याज्यमपि पत्रस्य पातनम्,जो वृक्ष बढ़कर बहुत फैल गये हों, उनकी डालियाँ कटवा दे; परंतु देवसम्बन्धी वृक्षोंको सर्वथा सुरक्षित रहने दे। उनका एक पत्ता भी न गिरावे
pravṛddhānāṃ ca vṛkṣāṇāṃ śākhāṃ pracchedayet tathā | caityānāṃ sarvathā tyājyam api patrasya pātanam ||
అతి ఎక్కువగా పెరిగి విస్తరించిన వృక్షాల కొమ్మలను అవసరమైతే కత్తిరించవచ్చు; కానీ చైత్యసంబంధమైన (పవిత్రస్థలానికి చెందిన) వృక్షాలను అన్ని విధాలా కాపాడాలి—ఒక ఆకూ పడనీయకూడదు.
