अध्याय २९७ — श्रेयः, धृति, दान-नियमाः
Welfare, Steadfastness, and Norms of Giving
न चैशि: पुण्यकर्माणो युज्यन्ते चाभिसंधिजै: । एवंविधैश्व बहुभिरपरै: प्राकृतेरपि,पुण्यकर्म करनेवाले मनुष्य इस तरहके उपायोंसे प्राण नहीं देते तथा ऐसे-ऐसे दूसरे अधम उपायोंसे भी उनकी मृत्यु नहीं होती
na caiśiḥ puṇyakarmāṇo yujyante cābhisaṃdhijaiḥ | evaṃvidhaiś ca bahubhir aparaiḥ prākṛter api ||
పరాశరుడు పలికెను—పుణ్యకర్మలలో నిమగ్నులైన వారు కపటంతో, పన్నాగంతో నిర్మితమైన ఉపాయాల వల్ల ప్రాణాలు విడువరు; అలాగే సామాన్య లోకప్రకృతిలోనుండి పుట్టిన ఇలాంటి అనేక నీచ ఉపాయాల వల్ల కూడా వారు నశించరు।
