Adhyāya 283: Varṇa-vṛtti, Nyāya-ārjana, and the Decline-and-Restoration of Dharma (वर्णवृत्तिः न्यायार्जनं च)
एकमन्त्रास्तु ते सर्वे येनेशो न निमन्त्रित: । ऐसा कहकर महायोगी दधीचिने जब ध्यान लगाकर देखा
ekamantrāstu te sarve yenēśo na nimantritaḥ |
వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను— “వారందరూ ఒకే సంకల్పంతో ఉన్నారు; అందుకే ఈశ్వరుడు మహేశ్వరుడు ఇక్కడికి ఆహ్వానింపబడలేదు.” అని చెప్పి మహాయోగి దధీచి ధ్యానంలో ప్రవేశించి, భగవాన్ శంకరుని మరియు మంగళమయి వరప్రదాయిని దేవి పార్వతిని దర్శించెను; వారి సమీపంలోనే మహాత్మ నారదుడిని కూడా చూసి అతడు పరమ సంతోషం పొందెను. యోగవేత్త దధీచికి దేవతలు ఏకమై ఉన్నారని నిశ్చయం కలిగింది; అందుకే మహేశ్వరుని పిలువలేదు. ఇది గ్రహించి అతడు ఆ స్థలాన్ని విడిచి యజ్ఞశాల నుండి దూరంగా వెళ్లి పలికెను— “సజ్జనులారా! అర్హతలేనివానిని పూజించి, అర్హుడైన మహాపురుషుని పూజించకపోతే, మనిషి ఎల్లప్పుడూ నరహత్యాసమాన పాపానికి భాగస్వామి అవుతాడు.”
