Ātma-saṃyama-dharma: One-pointedness of Mind and Senses (शुक–व्यास संवादः)

शुचिर्दक्षो गुणोपेतो ब्रूयादिष्टमिवान्तरा । चक्षुषा गुरुमव्यग्रो निरीक्षेत जितेन्द्रिय:,बाहर-भीतरसे पवित्र रहे। कार्यमें कुशल हो। गुणवान्‌ बने। भीतरसे सदभावना रखकर बीच-बीचमें ऐसी बात बोले जो गुरुको प्रिय लगनेवाली हो। शान्त भावसे भक्तिभरी दृष्टि डालकर गुरुकी ओर देखे और इन्द्रियोंको वशमें रखे

śucir dakṣo guṇopeto brūyād iṣṭam ivāntarā | cakṣuṣā gurum avyagro nirīkṣeta jitendriyaḥ ||

శిష్యుడు బాహ్యాంతర శుచిగా, కార్యనిపుణుడిగా, గుణసంపన్నుడిగా ఉండాలి. అంతరంగంలో సద్భావం ఉంచి, మధ్యమధ్యలో గురువుకు ప్రీతికరమైన మాటలు పలకాలి. అవ్యగ్రుడై, ఇంద్రియనిగ్రహంతో, శాంతమైన భక్తిదృష్టితో గురువును చూడాలి.
