Yoga–Sāṃkhya Synthesis, Chariot Allegory, and the Vyakta–Avyakta Distinction
sāham evaṁ-guṇeṣv eva dānaveṣv avasaṁ purā | prajā-sargam upādāya naikaṁ yuga-viparyayam ||

The verse highlights the long continuity of moral and social conditions across cosmic time: even groups typically viewed as adversarial (the Dānavas) can possess admirable qualities, and ethical assessment should attend to conduct (guṇa) rather than mere category or lineage.
Śakra (Indra) speaks of having lived among the virtuous Dānavas from the very beginning of creation, enduring through many yuga-transitions, thereby establishing the antiquity and sustained nature of that association as part of his account.
