परिच्छिद्यैव कामानां सर्वेषां चैव कर्मणाम् | मूल॑ बुद्धीन्द्रियग्रामं शकुन्तानिव पठ्जरे,“बुद्धि और इन्द्रियाँ ही समस्त कामनाओं और कर्मोकी मूल हैं। उन्हें पिंजड़ेमें बंद पक्षियोंकी तरह अपने काबूमें रखा जाय तो कोई भय नहीं है
paricchidyaiva kāmānāṁ sarveṣāṁ caiva karmaṇām | mūlaṁ buddhīndriyagrāmaṁ śakuntān iva pañjare ||
భీష్ముడు పలికెను—అన్ని కోరికలకూ, అన్ని కర్మలకూ హద్దు పెట్టి నియంత్రించాలి; వాటి మూలం బుద్ధి మరియు ఇంద్రియసమూహమే. బుద్ధి, ఇంద్రియాలను పంజరంలో ఉన్న పక్షుల్లా అదుపులో ఉంచితే, భయానికి కారణం ఉండదు.
