कार्तिक्यामद्य भोक्तार: सहस्र मे द्विजोत्तमा: । तत्रायमपि भोक्ता च देयमस्मै च मे धनम्‌

Transliteration

kārtikyām adya bhoktāraḥ sahasraṃ me dvijottamāḥ | tatrāyam api bhoktā ca deyam asmai ca me dhanam ||

Translation

భీష్ముడు పలికెను—‘ఈ రోజు కార్తికీ వ్రతాన నా వద్ద వెయ్యి మంది శ్రేష్ఠ బ్రాహ్మణులు భోజనం చేస్తారు. అక్కడ ఇతడినీ భోజనార్థులలో చేర్చండి; అలాగే నా ధనములోనుండి ఇతనికి దానమూ ఇవ్వాలి।’
