ततः प्रदुद्रुवु: सर्वे विप्रसंघा: समनन््ततः । गौतमो<पि सुवर्णस्य भारमादाय सत्वर:,यह सुनकर सब ब्राह्मणसमुदाय चारों ओर भाग चले। गौतम भी सुवर्णका भारी भार लेकर बड़ी कठिनाईसे ढोता हुआ जल्दी-जल्दी चलकर बरगदके पास आया। वहाँ पहुँचते ही थककर बैठ गया। वह भूखसे पीड़ित और क्लान्त हो रहा था
tataḥ pradudruvuḥ sarve viprasaṅghāḥ samanantataḥ | gautamo ’pi suvarṇasya bhāram ādāya satvaraḥ ||
అప్పుడు బ్రాహ్మణుల సమూహాలన్నీ అన్ని దిక్కులా పరుగెత్తి పారిపోయాయి. గౌతముడు కూడా బంగారు భారాన్ని ఎత్తుకొని తొందరగా బయలుదేరాడు; బరువుతో నలిగిపోయి, అలసిపోయి, ఆకలితో బాధపడుతూ మర్రిచెట్టు వైపు సాగాడు.
