Educational Q&A

The verse conveys that extraordinary moral-spiritual force can manifest as cosmic signs: when a pivotal being acts, the natural world mirrors the gravity of the moment, reminding listeners that dharma is tied to the stability of the cosmos.

Bhīṣma describes a dramatic moment of ascent or sudden rising; as it occurs, the earth quakes and the ocean becomes turbulent with waves and eddies—an omen-like depiction emphasizing the magnitude of the event.
