मुक्तश्न व्यसनादस्मात्‌ सौम्याहमपि नाम ते । प्रीतिमुत्पादयेयं च प्रीतिकर्तुश्न॒ सत्क्रियाम्‌,'सौम्य! इस विपत्तिसे छुटकारा पानेपर मैं भी तुम्हारे हृदयमें प्रीति उत्पन्न करूँगा। तुम मेरा प्रिय करनेवाले हो, अतः तुम्हारा भलीभाँति आदर-सत्कार करूँगा

muktaś ca vyasanād asmāt, saumyāham api nāma te | prītim utpādayeyaṃ ca, prītikartuś ca satkriyām ||

భీష్ముడు పలికెను—సౌమ్యా! ఈ వ్యసనంనుండి విముక్తుడైన తరువాత, నేనూ నీ హృదయంలో స్నేహాన్ని కలిగిస్తాను; నన్ను సంతోషపెట్టినవాడవు కాబట్టి, నీకు తగిన గౌరవ-సత్కారాలు చేస్తాను.
