आपद्धर्मे राज्ञः नीतिः — Bharadvāja’s Counsel on Crisis-Statecraft (Śānti Parva 138)
एवं प्राप्ततमं काल॑ यो मोहान्नावबुद्धयते । स विनश्यति वै क्षिप्र॑ दीर्घसूत्रो यथा झष:,इसी प्रकार जो पुरुष मोहवश अपने सिरपर आये हुए कालको नहीं समझ पाता, वह उस दीर्घसूत्री मत्स्यके समान शीघ्र ही नष्ट हो जाता है
evaṁ prāptatamaṁ kālaṁ yo mohān nāvabuddhyate | sa vinaśyati vai kṣipraṁ dīrghasūtro yathā jhaṣaḥ ||
అలాగే, మోహవశుడై తన మీదకు వచ్చి చేరిన కాలాన్ని (మరణాన్ని) గ్రహించని మనిషి, ఆలస్యం చేసే చేపలాగానే త్వరగా నశిస్తాడు।
