Educational Q&A

A ruler’s enduring duty is prudent fiscal stewardship: create a treasury, protect it through careful administration, and then keep increasing it—so the kingdom can be sustained, protected, and governed righteously.

In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on rājadharma, Bhīṣma advises Yudhiṣṭhira on practical duties of kingship, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining and growing the royal treasury as a foundational support for just rule.
