असम्भवे श्रियो राजन् हीनस्य सचिवादिशि: | दैवे प्रतिनिविष्टे च कि श्रेयो मन्यते भवान्
asambhave śriyo rājan hīnasya sacivādiṣu | daive pratiniviṣṭe ca ki śreyo manyate bhavān ||
భీష్ముడు పలికెను—ఓ రాజా, నీకు ఇక సంపద-సౌభాగ్యాల సాధ్యత లేదు; మంత్రులు మొదలైన ఆధారాలు కూడా లేవు; దైవం కూడా ప్రతికూలంగా నిలిచింది. అటువంటి స్థితిలో నీకు ఏ మార్గం శ్రేయస్కరమని నీవు భావిస్తున్నావు?
