शल्यपर्वणि प्रथमाध्यायः — Karṇa-vadha-anantaraṃ Śalya-niyogaḥ, Saṃjayasya Dhṛtarāṣṭra-nivedanam

रुरोद च भृशोद्धिग्नो हा राजन्निति विस्वरम्‌ | आकुमारं नरव्याप्र तत्र तत्र समन्‍्ततः

ruroda ca bhṛśoddhigno hā rājann iti visvaram | ākumāraṃ naravyāghra tatra tatra samantataḥ ||

అతడు తీవ్రమైన వ్యాకులతతో గొంతెత్తి—“హా రాజా!” అని ఏడ్చాడు. ఓ నరవాఘ్రా! అతడు అక్కడక్కడా, అన్ని వైపులా, బాల్యకాలం నుంచే ఇలా విలపించేవాడివలె అయ్యాడు.
