Aśvatthāman’s Curse, Parikṣit’s Future, and the Mani’s Restitution
अप्राप्रुवन् क्वचित् काज्चित् संविदं जातु केनचित् । निर्जनानसहायस्त्वं देशान् प्रविचरिष्यसि
aprāpruvan kvacit kāñcit saṃvidaṃ jātu kenacit | nirjanān asahāyas tvaṃ deśān pravicariṣyasi
నీవు ఎప్పుడూ, ఎక్కడా, ఎవ్వరితోనూ, ఏ కాలంలోనూ సంభాషణ పొందలేవు. నిర్జనుడవై, సహాయం లేక, పాడుబడ్డ ప్రాంతాలలో తిరుగుతావు.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores the ethical consequence of grievous wrongdoing: one may be cut off from human fellowship and forced into lonely, unsupported wandering. Social connection and support are presented as moral goods that can be forfeited through adharma.
Vaiśampāyana reports a pronouncement of punishment: the addressed person is foretold to be unable to find companionship or even basic conversation anywhere, and to roam through deserted places without aid—an image of exile and social-spiritual abandonment in the post-war aftermath.
