Educational Q&A

Legitimate leadership is supported by two pillars: the polity (prakṛtayaḥ—ministers and representatives of the realm) and sacred learning (Veda-knowing Brāhmaṇas). Their respectful attendance signals that public decisions, especially in unstable times, should be guided by both practical governance and dharmic counsel.

Arjuna is seated in a position of honor, and the key constituents of the kingdom—officials and learned Brāhmaṇas—assemble around him, taking their places nearby in attendance, indicating a formal gathering for counsel, support, or deliberation.
