Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 45: Saubhadra–Lakṣmaṇa-saṃyoga and Kaurava Counter-Encirclement
alaṁ trāsena vaḥ śūrā naiṣa kaścan mayi sthite | aham enaṁ grahīṣyāmi jīvagrāhaṁ na saṁśayaḥ ||
The verse foregrounds battlefield courage and resolve as a warrior’s immediate dharma, while implicitly warning that confident speech can slide into hubris—ethical discernment is needed even when asserting strength.
In the Drona Parva battle context, a speaker reassures allied warriors not to fear and declares that Abhimanyu will be captured alive, presenting a tactical intention and a morale-boosting claim of certainty.
