धन्यं यशस्यमायुष्य॑ पुण्य॑ वेदैश्व सम्मितम् । देवदेवस्य ते पार्थ व्याख्यातं शतरुद्रियम्,पार्थ! यह देवाधिदेव भगवान् शिवके “शतरुद्रिय” स्तोत्रकी व्याख्या की गयी है। यह स्तोत्र वेदोंके समान परम पवित्र तथा धन, यश और आयुकी वृद्धि करनेवाला है
dhanyaṃ yaśasyam āyuṣyaṃ puṇyaṃ vedaiś ca sammitam | devadevasya te pārtha vyākhyātaṃ śatarudriyam ||
వ్యాసుడు పలికెను—పార్థా! దేవదేవుడైన శివుని స్తుతించుటకై ఇక్కడ ‘శతరుద్రీయం’ వివరణ చేయబడింది. ఇది ధన్యకరం, యశస్సును ప్రసాదించేది, ఆయుష్షును పెంపొందించేది, పరమ పుణ్యదాయకం, వేదసమాన పవిత్రం.
