एकाक्षो जाज्वतन्नास्ते सर्वतो$क्षिमयो5पि वा । क्रोधाद्‌ यश्चाविशल्लोकांस्तस्मात्‌ सर्व इति स्मृत:,यद्यपि उनके सब ओर नेत्र हैं, तथापि उनका एक विलक्षण अग्निमय नेत्र अलग भी है, जो सदा क्रोधसे प्रज्वलित रहता है; वे सब लोकोंमें समाविष्ट होनेके कारण 'सर्व” कहे गये हैं

ekākṣo jājvatann āste sarvato 'kṣimayo 'pi vā | krodhād yaś cāviśal lokāṁs tasmāt sarva iti smṛtaḥ ||

ఆయనకు అన్ని దిక్కులా నేత్రాలు ఉన్నాయి—ఆయన నేత్రమయుడే—అయినా ఒక విశిష్టమైన అగ్నిమయ ఏకనేత్రం ఉంది; అది క్రోధంతో నిత్యం జ్వలిస్తుంది. ఆయన సమస్త లోకాలలో వ్యాపించి ఉండుటచేత ‘సర్వుడు’ అని స్మరించబడతాడు.
