राजेन्द्र! विकर्ण मारा गया। पराक्रमी चित्रसेनको भी प्राणोंका त्याग करना पड़ा। आपके पुत्रोंमें जो प्रमुख थे, वे तथा अन्य महारथी भी कालके गालमें चले गये ।। यानन्यान् ददृशे भीमश्रक्षुर्विषयमागतान् । पुत्रांस्तव महाराज त्वरया तान् जघान ह,महाराज! भीमसेनने अपने नेत्रोंके सामने आये हुए जिन-जिन पुत्रोंको देखा, उन सबको तुरंत ही मार डाला
rājendra! vikarṇo māraḥ gataḥ. parākramaḥ citraseno 'pi prāṇān tyaktavān. tava putreṣu ye pramukhāḥ te cānye mahārathāś ca kālasya gāle gatāḥ. yān anyān dadarśa bhīmasya cakṣurviṣayam āgatān putrāṃs tava mahārāja tvarayā tān jaghāna ha.
ఓ రాజేంద్రా, వికర్ణుడు హతుడయ్యాడు; పరాక్రమవంతుడైన చిత్రసేనుడూ ప్రాణత్యాగం చేశాడు. మీ కుమారుల్లో అగ్రగణ్యులు, ఇంకా ఇతర మహారథులూ కాలగ్రాసమయ్యారు. మహారాజా, భీమసేనుడు తన కళ్లముందుకు వచ్చిన మీ కుమారుల్లో ఎవరెవరిని చూశాడో, వారందరినీ అతడు వెంటనే సంహరించాడు.
